Poetry course here I come

Tue May 12, 2009, 12:24 PM
  • Mood: Artistic
  • Listening to: 'Too Skint To Breathe' by The Magdelaine Cays
  • Reading: 'Stories We Could Tell' by Tony Parsons
  • Drinking: Coke
I found out yesterday that I have been accepted on the Poetry course for next year :D Hopefully this means I'll be a bit more quick in actually putting poems up on here. Sorry I've been abandoning dA, it's just I have so much work to do and when I'm not working I'm catching up on sleep or seeing friends.

I also have a dilemma for a fancy dress party. On the 4th July my friend is having a famous Americans themed birthday :giggle: and I need a costume idea that
a) Will make me look somewhat good. I'm not vain but I won't enjoy myself if I'm constantly worrying that I look silly/fat etc.
b) Will be recognisable at least a bit. 'What are you meant to be?' isn't a great question to hear at a fancy dress party.
c) Not too warm/involving sunglasses as we're off to a club.
d) Not Marilyn Monroe. I LOVE her but I have a feeling there will be about five Monroes.

Help me out guys.

I thank you so much, my Love for the fave! It makes my world
Are you doing alright? I always worry about my friends given the crisis point nature of the world we live in.

Oh, I'm fine. I'm at University now, studying English Literature. It's crazy and blurry and I don't think I'll ever not have work to do. However, it's also pretty damn lovely :) Are you alright?

You acted the film star while you were still spoken for, it didn't look rosy for me.

Work is like gum stuck to the bottom of our shoe--it never leaves us.
I am well and merely trying to stay competent in the winding days of school. I hear you on the work. A double major and a double minor, I have developed an acute paranoia of going ANYWHERE without more than two items of school work. Nevertheless, I am happy and getting lots of sleep

Which part of English Lit do you like best? (I know...tough call). English lit. is one of my majors, too ;)

Well in our first semester we have three courses in it: Reading Literature, Mapping the Medieval and Academic Development. I like Reading Literature best, I reckon, as it's all-encompassing. We've done prose, now we're on poetry and we have yet to do drama and popular culture!

I'm really looking forward to Reading Film though, which is in my second semester, as I'm something of a film buff. I can't wait to sign up for Creative Writing in my second year either :D

What other major and minors do you do?

I'm an English/History double major, with a Studio Art Minor and a Distinction in Leadership Studies. It may be a mouthful, and people may scorn me for "trying to kill myself with school" but the truth is....I just LOVE to learn. :bounce: Nobody really understands that, and I find it a sad thing that at a liberal arts college, those who actively pursue as much knowledge as possible are ostricized. :sadangel:
